Playing with Glitter

My friend Amy Mogish (visit her blog at http://classicamyjoanne.com/) and I went to a glitter class with Miss Mustard Seed aka Marian Parsons.  We used MMS’s German Glass Glitter which has an extra sparkle, you can find it on her web site.  It was such a fun relaxing class and the process is pretty simple:

1. Place white glue were you want glitter.
2. Sprinkle on glue with glitter.
3. Shake off excess glitter.
4. Repeat.

It is amazing how many things you can glitter in 2 hours. I had painted a small house and put clear glitter all over it, plus letters for two banners, snowflakes and pine cones.  These few projects added a lot of glitz to my holiday decorating.

Marian had given me some old music pages which I wanted to put my one set of letters on.  Since the paper was fragile I glue it to some heavier banners that I bought at Michaels.  I then glued the letters to them.

I was going to put glitter on the edges, but when I tried it, it just didn’t look right.  I floated a little Raw Sienna paint on the corners and around the edges, which pleased me.

I then used twine to connect my banners together.

 

On my house I added a few wreaths and a tree that I also covered with glitter.  It is now happy sitting on my dining room table with some other goodies.

The Merry & Bright banner is on my entertainment center.

And the O Holy Night banner is on my living room mantel.

The pine cones are in my fireplace.

And the snowflakes are on my family room mantel

Once I got home I decided to do a glitter cake.  I used the bottom of a paper mache box and painted it white.  I used clear glitter on the top and silver on the sides.  I used some silk holly leaves and berries and covered them with clear glitter for the top of the cake.  I then clued tinsel around the bottom of the cake.  I love how it turned out.
