Raisin Filled Cookies


  • 2 cups sugar

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • flour-apprx. 6 cups

Mix ingredients together and add enough flour to make a soft dough. (Depending on your mixer you may need to add some flour by hand) Roll out dough cutting to desired size. Place on cookie sheet and put a spoonful of filling on top. Top with another cookie and seal around edges. Bake in 350° oven until slightly brown.


  • 1 or 2 boxes raisins (I use two so it’s not all the gel)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. Butter
  • 2 Tbsp. Flour

Cover raisins with water. Mix eggs and flour together and add to raisins. Add sugar. Cook in pan on top of stove or this may be microwaved. Add butter after the mixture has thickened. Either method will need stirred as it thickens.
