Turning canvases into table top art

It is fun to take smaller canvases and turn them into a tabletop canvas by adding feet or a pedestal, a finial and/or other elements. I thought I would show you how I took the donut canvases in the Painted Donuts post and turn them into tabletop canvases.

i had an assortment of wood pieces from my local craft store and Bear with Us.  I played with the different pieces so that I could stager the heights of the canvases.  I then picked some different knobs that I bought at Hobby Lobby for the top of the canvases.  I painted the wooden parts a neutral color.

Before gluing the bases on the canvases I drilled a hole in the top of each canvas for the knob.  Use multi-purpose glue to secure the feet on the canvases.

Then glue knobs in top of each canvas.

I was going to glue the small wheels on the sides of the canvases.  I thought they would look like little donuts, but I was not happy with the look.  Sometimes those great ideas in your mind just don’t work out…..so I thought about washi tape.  I choose pink, since it is my favorite color, and second because it is an accent color on the canvases.

The washi tape gave me the wow that the canvases needed.

Here is another canvas that I added a knob and a wooden pedestal.  I painted the base repeating some of the elements in the canvas.

This queen bee angel I added wooden feet and bee hives on top.

I hope this post will get you thinking about different ways to embellish your canvases.

Happy Painting,
