Welcome Fall Indoors – The Beginning

I would like to take you on a little fall tour of the inside of our home starting with the living room and dining room.  I will also give you a sneak peek of a  DIY project I will be sharing with you very soon.  The first thing to great you as you enter my front door is this sweet little lady.

As soon as you enter my living room/dining room you will see my aunts hanging out in their favorite chair (also my favorite chair).  I made these dolls for my aunts many years ago and they had a lot of fun with them.  Each was made to resemble my aunts;  when they passed away they came to permanently live in our home.  Now we have a lot of fun with them!

I like to mix painted things in with my decorating.  The orange berries on this box make me think of fall.  This was one of my designs that was in PaintWorks magazine.  I also have the pattern on my web site.

LRchickboxI am not sure why, but this year I have a owl thing going. I found this guy at a local flower shop and fell in love with him.  When I think of fall I think of it as a time of being thankful.  Traditionally an ark would not be a normal part of fall decor…but to me they are a symbol of thankfulness for many reasons.

The pumpkins in the fireplace are going to be a DIY project which I will be post in next couple of weeks.  They are painted with chalk paint and then gold leafed.

LRpumpkins copyAs you move to the dining side of the room you can see my paint goose on the table.  This goose was a design by Carol Payne, which I think the design was inspired by Rosemary West.

The “Cutest Pumpkin”  was made with two gourds and sculpted with quikwood.  It was a fun class that I took with Olde Moonlane Primitive by Wendy Young.  Check her out on Facebook.  If you are in south central PA, you will definitely want to take a class with her.  Lots of fun and she is a great teacher.

I have my bookcase loaded with fall decor.  Sometimes you have a lot of painted pieces and just do not have the right place for them, packing them into a bookcase or hutch can give you a lot of WOW.  The box on the top left was designed and painted by me.  The top right was designed and painted by Shara Reiner.  The tray is my design that was in the Celebrating Fall book just out at Hoot 2015. The purse was my design that was in the Oct 2014 issue of the Pixelated Palette.

LRangelHope you have enjoyed this part of the tour.  I will be back tomorrow with the second half which will be my family room and kitchen.  I hope you will come back I will be showing you a preview of three more DIY projects.

Harvest Blessings,

Jane

  1. absolutely loved being in your living and dining room. My favorite craft were your aunts. I also loved your soft colour palette. Thank you for the tour,
